Best Time To Visit Stowe?

Stowe is a year-round destination, so you can visit Stowe at any time!

  • Summer is a popular time to travel to Stowe and New England for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and sightseeing.
  • In winter, people travel to Stowe from all over to enjoy skiing and snowboarding at Stowe Mountain Resort. Other winter activities in Stowe include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and ice skating.

How Far Is Burlington From Stowe?

After visiting Stowe, we recommend heading over to Burlington and spending a couple of days exploring this beautiful waterfront town as well. Burlington is located a 45-minute drive from Stowe so you can easily combine a visit to both of these cities on the same trip.

Where Do You Fly Into To Go To Stowe?

The nearest airport to Stowe is the Burlington International Airport (BTV), located a short drive from Stowe (yet another reason to check out Burlington!).

For longer New England road trips, we typically fly into the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New York. This airport has the most flight options and we can easily pick up a rental car when we land.

Do You Need a Car In Stowe, Vermont?

For New England road trips, I do recommend getting a rental car so you can get around easily. Many of the Stowe attractions are spread out and situated in remote locations so you’ll need a car to reach them.

You’ll also need a car if you plan to continue your trip to other popular nearby destinations such as Burlington, The Adirondack Mountains, The White Mountains, and Kancamagus Highway.
