During our Hawaii babymoon, we did splurge on nicer hotels & resorts because I wanted to have access to amenities like onsite dining choices, swimming pools, and air-conditioning (a must-have in Hawaii).
I also recommend booking a hotel in a central location that’s close to stores, gas stations, and restaurants. Traveling while pregnant can be very tiring and you don’t want to spend extra time driving around looking for gas stations, restrooms, and places to eat.

For a Big Island Babymoon:
On our recent babymoon on the Big Island, we stayed at several different locations so we could explore various parts of the island. This is something that we’ve done on all of our Hawaii trips to maximize each day and spend less time driving in the car.
The Kailua-Kona area of the Big Island (west coast) is great for visiting beach parks, snorkeling, and touring coffee plantations. Hilo (east coast) is an excellent place to stay for visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, jungle waterfalls, botanical gardens, and lava tubes.
1. Royal Kona Resort
Royal Kona Resort is located on the west coast of the Big Island in Hawaii. This is where we stayed on our babymoon right after arriving.
Royal Kona Resort is situated just a 20-minute drive south of the Kona International Airport. After landing we picked up our rental car and headed to the hotel to relax.

This resort has oceanfront rooms, private balconies, on-site dining options, and a beachfront pool where you can jump in for a refreshing swim. To relax, treat yourself to a facial or a prenatal massage offered at the Royal Kona Resort Spa.
The resort offers morning yoga classes to stretch your tired and sore muscles which feels so great! The classes take place daily from 7:30 am to 8:30 am in an area overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
2. Grand Naniloa Hotel – a DoubleTree by Hilton
During our babymoon trip to the Big Island, we wanted to spend a few days exploring Hilo so we booked a couple nights at the Grand Naniloa Hotel.
This hotel is located in a stunning oceanfront setting next to a rocky black lava coastline. In the evenings we enjoyed lounging on the beach chairs and watching the sunset with complimentary drinks in hand (Big Island Breeze cocktail for my husband and sparkling water for me).
The Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo resort has excellent guest amenities. I loved the 24-hour fitness center for stretching in the morning which has a view of the ocean. The hotel also offers live entertainment in the lobby, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and an onsite Hula Hulas restaurant.
For activities, we recommend booking this Hilo Shore Day Excursion to see the top sights in the Hilo area including Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, black sand beach, lava tubes, and waterfalls! This tour departs from Hilo Hawaiian Hotel which is conveniently located next door to Grand Naniloa Hotel.
3. Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection
Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection is the #1 resort to book if you’re looking for Big Island babymoon luxury hotels. While this hotel is more expensive, it comes with all the top amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible!
Mauna Lani is the perfect place to stay on special occasions like a babymoon. If you’re feeling tired, the hotel has plenty of things to do on-site that you might never want to leave!
You can spend the day lounging by the 3,900-square-foot resort pool or head to the more-quiet adult pool to take a (much-needed) nap in the lounge chairs.
For dinner, the Canoe House restaurant offers epic sunset meals overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This contemporary restaurant serves some of the best food on the Big Island in a cozy, beachy setting that is sure to wow you and your significant other!
4. PACIFIC 19 Kona
PACIFIC 19 Kona is a newer hotel in the Kailua-Kona area on the Island of Hawai’i. This boutique hotel has been recently renovated and appeals to younger travelers.
We stayed here for a couple of nights so we could explore the nearby beaches like Magic Sands Beach Park and Kahalu’u Beach Park. Kailua-Kona is also a great place to stay if you plan to go on a Manta Ray night snorkel tour.
Within a 5-minute walk, you can reach many top-rated beachfront restaurants to satisfy any kind of pregnancy craving!
PACIFIC 19 Kona Hotel features a posh lobby, upgraded rooms, and a beautiful outdoor swimming pool. If you forget to bring anything on your vacation, the rooms offer many items for purchase such as mineral sunscreens, beach towels, tote bags, refreshing drinks, and lots of snacks.
I recommend booking a Night Manta Ray Adventure with Hang Loose Boat Tours. They do allow pregnant travelers (as long as you’re not in advanced pregnancy). I did this snorkel adventure at 22 weeks and loved it! They provide floating devices to help with swimming and will take you back to the boat if you start feeling tired.

For a Maui Babymoon:
The west coast of Maui is the most popular area for vacationing. This is one of the best places to babymoon in Hawaii where you’ll find many different hotels, vacation rentals, and all-inclusive resorts to choose from. Most of the accommodations are located along a white sand shoreline that stretches from Lahaina to Kapalua.
The central part of Maui Island from Kihei to Wailea-Makena also has a lot of wonderful hotels and resorts. Wailea is a great home base for driving the famous Road to Hana Highway, visiting Twin Falls Maui Waterfall, and spending an afternoon at the Mākena State Park.
5. The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua
For the ultimate Hawaii babymoon, book The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua! This luxury hotel is located in one of the best spots for exploring the west side of Maui.
Within a short walk, you can reach the Kapalua Coastal Trail that you can take down to Ironwood Cliffs, Kapalua Cliff House, and Kapalua Bay Beach for some snorkeling (a pregnancy-safe activity). Nearby you can also spend the afternoon at D.T. Fleming Park or explore unique rock formations along the Dragon’s Teeth Access Trail.
At the Ritz-Carlton Maui Spa, mamas-to-be can pamper themselves with naturally nurtured prenatal massages. Dining options include The Banyan Tree, Ulana Terrace, Burger Shack, and others!
Tip: Most beach parks in Hawaii don’t offer snorkel gear rentals. I recommend buying a snorkeling set on Amazon and bringing your own for convenience.
6. Kaanapali Alii, a Destination by Hyatt Residence
Kaanapali Alii, a Destination by Hyatt Residence is located at the center of the hotel zone next to the Kaanapali Beach, golf courses, and Whalers Village shopping center. From the hotel, you can head on a walk along the Kāʻanapali Beachwalk up to Black Rock Beach where you can lounge in the sand and soak up the sunshine.
The rooms at Kaanapali Alii come with a choice of an ocean, garden, or mountain view. The accommodations feature fully-equipped kitchens so you can make healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. Let the hotel staff know and they can even stock the fridge before you get there!

7. Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui
Wailea Beach Resort – Marriott, Maui is one of the most tranquil and peaceful Maui babymoon resorts – just what you may need before the little one’s arrival!
The hotel features multiple onsite restaurants, 3 pools, and a private beach area. The hotel staff can also arrange romantic private candlelit dinners in a pool cabana or on the beach.
All accommodations at Wailea Beach Resort come with a balcony or patio for enjoying views of the ocean and nearby islands. The rooms also have an AC – a must-have in Hawaii in the summer to get a good night’s sleep!
Within walking distance, you can reach Wailea Beach and Ulua Beach Park for swimming and laying out on a golden sand shoreline. If you’re looking for something more relaxing, treat yourself to a massage or facial at the Mandara Spa.
At The Wailea Beach Marriott Resort, you can book a traditional Te Au Moana Lu`au that includes a dancing show, an all-you-can-eat buffet, and a fire knife performance!
8. Four Seasons Resort Maui At Wailea
Four Seasons Resort Maui is another wonderful accommodation choice in Wailea. It is situated next to Wailea Beach Park with easy access to the best beaches, turquoise waters, and stunning views.
This gorgeous beachfront hotel is like a slice of paradise on Earth! Here you can spend quality time with your other half, relax and enjoy a babymoon in Maui before welcoming the newest family addition.
Some of the top experiences at the Four Seasons Resort Maui include renting a cabana, snorkeling on the beach, or getting a couples massage. The resort offers 3 swimming pools including the picture-perfect adults-only Serenity infinity pool.
When the cravings strike, head to one of the 3 onsite restaurants including Chef Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant Spago (Hawaiian cuisine), Ferraro’s Bar e Ristorante (Italian cuisine), or DUO Steak and Seafood restaurant that offers poolside dining.
For a fun day on the water, book this Molokini Snorkeling Adventure Aboard Calypso that departs from the nearby Ma’alaea Harbor. On this tour, you’ll snorkel in Molokini Crater, swim with giant sea turtles, and cruise on a triple-decker catamaran which has a glass-bottom viewing room!
For an Oahu Babymoon:
Oahu is an island that offers a good mix of adventure, nature, history, and city life. Most visitors stay in Honolulu which is a great location if you enjoy beaches, shopping, and having lots of dining choices nearby.
For something a bit more secluded, the west side of Oahu Island has several highly rated resorts that are more relaxed and slow-paced.
We’ve stayed in both areas before. If you’re looking for something a bit more touristy, you’ll want to book a hotel in Honolulu. If you’re seeking a relaxing babymoon vacation, a resort on the west coast is the way to go!
9. The Kahala Hotel And Resort
The Kahala Hotel & Resort is one of the best babymoon destinations in Hawaii! This luxurious resort is located in the southern part of Honolulu close to the hustle and bustle of city life, while still being secluded and not too crowded.
If you want to venture out into the city, you can take a complimentary hotel shuttle to the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu. Would rather spend your time at the resort? Within the property, you can rest by the pool, book a treatment at the full-service spa and enjoy delicious meals at the 4 property restaurants.
During your Honolulu babymoon, be sure to take advantage of the Kahala Resort Hawaiian photography session to take maternity photos. This professional photo session is 45 minutes long and takes place on the property so you can capture beautiful memories of your babymoon in Oahu!
If you’d rather take your own photos, head on a 30-minute drive from Honolulu to Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden to snap babymoon photos in a dreamy tropical setting.
10. Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach
Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa is situated in a prime location just steps from the world-famous Waikiki Beach. I myself worked for a Westin hotel for years and it is still one of my preferred hotels to stay when traveling!
Soon-to-be moms can visit the Moana Lani Spa for a massage or a mani-pedi treatment. After, you can head to the resort’s freshwater pool to relax with a mocktail in hand.

Although Kauai is not as popular for babymoons as other destinations, it is one of the best Hawaiian islands to pick for those who enjoy outdoor activities.
With fewer people and developments, Kauai offers a quiet and relaxed babymoon option. This is one of the most beautiful Hawaii islands with more natural attractions and less ‘city’ things to do.
The main airport in Kauai is the Lihue Airport located on the east side of Kauai. This is where most of the cheaper mid-range hotels are located. The sunny south shore near Poipu Beach is where you’ll want to go for top-rated accommodations and resorts.
